Who they are
AISC supports steel practice. The American Institute of Steel Construction serves the structural steel industry through technical standards, publications, education, and events. It publishes the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, the Steel Construction Manual, design guides, and other technical resources, as well as continuing education and professional resources for engineers and fabricators. Its NASCC: The Steel Conference brings steel design and construction participants together, and its guidance addresses design, fabrication, erection, and project coordination.
Why firm owners follow them
Build consistent references. AISC materials can support staff training and help principals maintain shared references for structural steel work, while technical guides and education can address design and coordination questions. Conference resources provide context on current practice and industry concerns, and professional materials can identify staff development needs and improve conversations with fabricators and contractors. Check the governing building code, project specifications, and adopted standards before applying guidance to a specific job.
How to use them: Pair AISC technical resources with project reviews to identify useful steel training for your engineers.
