Who they are
The American Society of Civil Engineers is a professional society serving civil engineers in the United States and internationally. It publishes technical standards, including ASCE 7, the Civil Engineering magazine, and the Infrastructure Report Card. ASCE also provides continuing education, professional events, technical communities, and resources for members across civil engineering specialties. Its publications and programs cover both engineering practice and the condition of public infrastructure, giving practitioners and firm leaders access to technical information, professional development, and perspectives on infrastructure policy.
Why firm owners follow them
Firm owners can follow ASCE for updates on technical standards, continuing education, infrastructure policy, and issues that affect clients and public projects. Its courses and professional communities can support staff development, while the Infrastructure Report Card offers material for conversations about infrastructure needs and investment. Owners should route code updates through their technical leads and confirm which adopted standards apply to each project. ASCE does not set a firm's fees or replace state licensing board requirements.
How to use them: Assign a technical lead to track relevant ASCE standards and share updates with project teams.
