Who they are
ISI administers Envision. The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure is a nonprofit organization that developed this sustainability rating system for infrastructure projects, providing a framework to evaluate performance across quality of life, resource use, natural systems, climate resilience, and leadership. ISI offers guidance, training, credentialing, and project recognition related to the framework. Owners and teams use Envision to structure sustainability discussions, but it does not replace applicable codes, permits, contracts, or agency standards.
Why firm owners follow them
Structure sustainability discussions. Firm owners can use Envision resources to train project teams, support sustainability planning, and discuss resilience and resource choices with infrastructure clients. Familiarity may help a firm respond to requests for sustainability expertise and identify staff development needs, while its categories can organize internal reviews and client conversations. Confirm whether a client requires or recognizes Envision and how scope, budget, permitting, and governing criteria shape the work.
How to use them: Use Envision's framework to organize sustainability training and client discussions for infrastructure work.
