Building Information Modeling (BIM)

A digital process for creating and managing structured information about a built asset. A model may include geometry and other data, but its content, uses, and level of detail depend on project requirements. BIM does not by itself establish design responsibility or guarantee that model data is complete.

Why it matters for owners

Clear model uses and exchange requirements help firms price effort and coordinate responsibility with project partners.
