Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR)

A delivery method in which an owner brings a construction manager into the project during design, then typically contracts with that manager to build the work. The construction manager may provide a guaranteed maximum price under defined terms. The contract governs scope, timing, contingencies, and responsibility for cost overruns.

Why it matters for owners

Engineering firms need to define how early contractor input affects design decisions, coordination, and professional responsibility.
