Equity value is the value attributable to owners' interests after accounting for debt and other agreed adjustments to enterprise value. The value of a specific owner's stake can also reflect ownership percentage, rights, restrictions, and transaction terms. A headline equity value does not necessarily equal the cash each owner receives.
Why it matters for owners
It connects a business valuation to potential proceeds for the shareholders.
