Soil boring

A soil boring is a drilled or otherwise advanced hole used to observe subsurface materials and collect samples or test data. Boring locations and depths are selected for the investigation purpose. Results describe conditions at specific points and may not capture all site variability. Qualified professionals interpret the logs alongside other project information.

Why it matters for owners

Boring coverage affects how well the investigation informs design. Site access, utility clearance, and restoration responsibilities should be planned.
