A topographic survey measures and maps ground elevations and selected site features. Depending on scope, it may show contours, structures, utilities, vegetation, or other visible features. Methods, accuracy, and included features are set by the surveyor and project requirements. Subsurface or concealed conditions are generally outside the survey unless separately investigated.
Why it matters for owners
Survey scope determines how well the base information supports design. Confirm feature coverage, accuracy, and coordinate references.
