Engineering Seal

A mark or electronic authentication used by a licensed engineer to identify documents for which the engineer takes professional responsibility under applicable rules. Sealing requirements, permitted uses, and exceptions vary by jurisdiction and document type. A seal should not be used as a substitute for appropriate review and control.

Why it matters for owners

Firm procedures should protect seals and ensure documents are authenticated only by authorized professionals.
