Federal-Aid Highway Program

A federal program that provides funding assistance for eligible highway and related transportation projects, generally administered through state departments of transportation under federal requirements. Eligibility, matching, project development, and oversight vary by funding source and project. Federal assistance does not remove state or local responsibilities.

Why it matters for owners

Firms should understand the sponsor's funding and compliance requirements when pursuing transportation work.
